Story
Me and T1D / ADHD / FMD
Type 1 diabetes has never existed in isolation, and neither has this story.
In this section, I want to share the broader story, because type 1 diabetes has never existed in isolation for me. Alongside it, I’ve faced multiple serious injuries, a functional motor disorder, periods of deep depression, and, ultimately, the discovery that ADHD was the hidden driver behind so many of my struggles.
It’s been a long and difficult eight-year road, full of setbacks, frustration, and at times, hopelessness. But through persistence, support, and eventually finding the right medication, I’ve reached a place of stability, clarity, and renewed purpose.
Sharing this isn’t easy. There’s pain, shame, and a lot of vulnerability in putting these words out there. But if opening up helps even one person feel less alone in their own journey, if it reassures them that struggling doesn’t mean failing, then it’s worth it.
I’ve learned that living with type 1 diabetes while navigating other health challenges isn’t about perfection. It’s about adaptation, compassion, and finding a way forward, even when the path looks impossible.

Take home
Living with type 1 diabetes alongside other health conditions isn’t about managing everything perfectly. It’s about finding enough, enough support, enough clarity, enough compassion for yourself, to keep moving forward.
